The book examines the origins, development and contemporary
significance of the Soviet doctrine of 'limited sovereignty'
('Brezhnev Doctrine'), with particular reference to the Doctrine's
implications for the Soviet Union's relations with Eastern Europe.
The author identifies and considers the multiple functions served
by the Soviet Union's essentially dualistic or 'bi-axial' approach
to sovereignty, which embraces notions derived from both general
international law and from Soviet Marxist-Leninist doctrine. The
book also includes a comparative analysis of the US 'Monroe
Doctrine'. The author argues that, although in the Gorbachev era of
'new thinking', the Soviet doctrine of sovereignty may be
developing a 'third axis', Western predictions of the imminent or
actual demise of the 'Brezhnev Doctrine' are premature.
During my senior year at seminary, I was substitute preaching at
a small rural church in southwest Ohio on the topic: "Turning the
World Upside Down." Thessalonians were saying that about those
first Christians. A lady greeted me after the service with the
question, and a hint of desperation in her voice: ""Tell me, what
can I do?"" I had no answer back then.
This book would be my answer now. Sometime after seminary, it
became my passion to recover the faith and experience of New
Testament Christianity. Fifty years later, after encountering
Christ, serving in pastoral ministry, studying Scripture, and
journaling to remember lessons God was teaching me, this book is a
summary of my understanding of New Testament Christianity.
It focused on Jesus (Incarnate Lord), His word (truth), and His
kingdom (limitless resources). When the church returns to that
focus for determining its faith and experience, it will produce
disciples, servants, and witnesses that go beyond mere church
membership in today's Christianity. Then, it will learn to tap the
limitless kingdom resources necessary to turn the world right side
up, claim the earth for Christ, produce Christlike people, and lead
the way to peace someday on earth.
This book provides an overview of the current strategies and
considerations regarding federal cloud computing. The Federal
Government's current Information Technology (IT) environment is
characterised by low asset utilisation, a fragmented demand for
resources, duplicative systems, environments which are difficult to
manage, and long procurement lead times. These inefficiencies
negatively impact the Federal Government's ability to serve the
American public. Cloud computing has the potential to play a major
part in addressing these inefficiencies and improving government
service delivery. The cloud computing model can significantly help
agencies grappling with the need to provide highly reliable,
innovative services quickly despite resource constraints.
